background music

I am new to peloton. I just finished a yoga class and found the background music distracting. I have seen posts about this so I know I am not the only one who noticed. Then I checked out a strength class and once again, bad music. I actually turned the workout off because of the music. Is there a place to make the choice of music or not?

I don't think there is an option to turn off the music altogether. If you do a workout from the tablet on the bike (which could include casting the workout to a TV) they give you the option to say "more instructor" or "more music" which would turn down the music effectively. Other than that, your best bet would just be to select workouts based on music that you don't mind as much.

Right there with you! I’m finding the yoga very inauthentic for many reasons including the music.

You can filter by music genre.. sometimes I sit and go through and bookmark the classes that interest me. I filter by length/type/difficulty and of course, music- and I always look at the actual playlist to see if it’s something I like.. once I get to my bike or the app, I pull up my bookmarked classes to get started.. have fun!

I agree, the music is lousy and not geared to a general audience therefore making it a bad ride. We should have the option to turn off the music and/or turn off the instructors who only read the leaderboard for 30 minutes. I wonder who quality checks these classes?

The music, especially during yoga, is so distracting and annoying I use other streaming video programs for workouts and yoga. bummer. When it comes to Peloton I just stick with the bike because it helps with keeping me in a groove, I guess. But even on the bike there are times when I'd rather not have any music or play my own. It's like having Spotify but only have one station. Or like when I was a kid and we'd drive through Kansas and there was only one station and it only played country music. No choice. But 2022? Laughable. I wonder if there's some legal agreement they made with record labels and they have to play it....that's what it is some legal contract they got stuck in for the next 5 years and they can't get out of it.
