There is a program for new riders, I suggest you go through that first.
As far as a fan, I have this one, and I like it:
If you have a Bike Plus (like I do), you'll have to mount it underneath the handlebars, so it doesn't block the screen from swiveling. Secure the fan with a zip tie, so it won't fall off, and you are good to go. It was a life saver for me during the hot summer months.
