New "improved" scenic rides - anything but!

I am unbelievably upset right now.

I joined Peloton for the scenic ride feature.

I'm not a classes guy; I like to ride the bike through peloton scenery for 30, 45 or 60 minutes EVERY DAY. The variety of rides AND the leaderboard have sustained me. I've dropped 30 pounds in the last couple of months. I've looked forward to my daily rides.

UNTIL YESTERDAY

Peloton's new scenic ride "improvements" are anything but an improvement for me...

My 30, 45 and 60 minute options have dwindled from 50 or 60 to a handful.

The distance options are useless because the longest ride is 10K (much less than my standard ride)

AND worst of all...there's NO LEADERBOARD.

That's the feature I've relied on to keep myself grinding and competitive during rides.

PLUS it lets me know if I'm behind or ahead of my PR pace.

Now I've been told through an online chat with customer "support," that the Leaderboard is no longer a feature on the new scenic rides.

And I now know that all my previous scenic ride options are gone.

Poof!

In what universe, did they think this would be good for their loyal subscribers?

I get that they wanted to come up with some new bells and whistles, but these new tech wrinkles should have been in addition to what already existed, not at their expense.

I'm so disappointed in Peloton; especially after I've been raving about it since getting my bike in December.

I hope they'll add more options in the 30, 45 and 60 minute range and that you re-instill the leaderboard feature.

Otherwise, I will probably get bored quickly and abandon ship soo.

On the bright side, at least I don't have a treadmill. So I won't get mangled while exercising.

Sincerely,
A dissatisfied, formerly-rabid Peloton supporting subscriber

Peter

Yes...how ridiculous is that? I'm so angry. Options are now limited to a handful of rides and NO LEADERBOARD.

It looks like they're now down to 33 total scenic rides including the new formats and no leaderboard. I get why they would add the new types but why get rid of the old ones?

Yes, and the distance rides are a total waste for anyone who likes to go more than a few miles.
Really short sighted here. They're gonna piss off a lot of riders who don't do the classes.
I tried to lodge my displeasure, but it fell on deaf ears.

I too joined solely for the scenic rides. Jumped on today and saw they new layout and was LIVID. I certainly don't want a guided tour...I just want to ride every day a compare myself against what I have done in the past. And what happened to all the great scenic routes. GONE. And no LEADERBOARD. Peloton, what in the world are you thinking. We cant even see how we are doing against our personal best, let alone the other riders. No it is nothing more than a ride in the park with no way to gauge your pace. THIS HAS TO GET FIXED. I spend $3000 on a Peloton and no it is of no use to me. How hard it is to keep the leaderboard in place???? This is terrible.

Brad,
Exactly...I wish we could find out a way to make our feelings known to someone who might be able to do something about it. Like you...the scenic rides and leaderboard are the only reasons I plunked down all this money.

If this is upsetting you, please reach out to Peloton Support to file a complaint.

I haven't even received my bike yet, but the scenic rides were half the reason I bought the damn thing, so I filed a complaint with support this morning. The more voices they hear, the better chance at a change we may see.

Couldn't agree more, the Leaderboard was BY FAR my greatest motivator to get on the bike every day (and the past output strip, which is also gone). Couldn't they have kept that while still adding all the new bells and whistles. I took a guided scenic tour yesterday, barely broke a sweat, and just wanted the guy to shut up after 30 minutes.

Agree the peloton scenic rides weren't amazing but there were a good quantity and variety and I actually liked the music - now they're gone and just a handful of new scenic rides...disappointed and hope they re-work the old scenic rides and re-introduce the leaderboard! And to be honest, could care less about music from hit artists, the music they had was perfect!

Right, the classes are ok but I'm not really interested in hearing some random guy/gal spur me on - the leaderboard and output were THE motivation - Peloton completely dropping the ball on this!

I actually didn't even listen to their music...just plugged into my own. But it's the lack of options at my key times and distances now and no leaderboard that's the bigger problem...

I jumped on one of their "guided scenic tours" yesterday. HORRIBLE. Constant side shots of him on the bike spouting vapid dialogue ("Hey, you'll never see a more beautiful day than this," "Can you believe how pretty Big Sur is? You're so lucky", etc.) I need the old scenic rides video of open road ahead of me. The video quality is better - professionally shot as opposed to go pro footage from freelance riders - but it's terrible for cyclists trying to get a workout in while comparing it to personal bests.

I took the Big Sur guided tour and wanted him to shut up after 1 minute. And why do I need to keep seeing him on camera from the side. Let me see the road. Totally agree with you. Peloton, add new features BUT leave the ones that we've come to rely on.

Count me as another disappointed customer. I loved the scenic rides and am 100 percent disappointed that the old rides are gone. Would it have been so hard to keep the old rides and the leaderboard? Even though I'm not competitive (okay, maybe just a bit), I enjoy seeing how I'm doing on a longer ride compared to the other rides I've done, especially the longer ones. I routinely do 2-hour rides on weekends, and now there is only a single 60-minute ride?! I don't want some random person taking me on a guided tour, either, because my rides are my time to get lost in the scenery and away from people.

The music pop-ups are extremely annoying, too, as I am deaf and do not care one bit what song is playing. I can't even disable that feature so that the song prompts will go away. I'm going to take the suggestion to contact customer support and let them know my issues with the "bells and whistles" that turn this expensive bike into a lesser product.

If there are enough of us disgruntled subscribers, maybe we can affect change. I went from being a really rabid Peloton ambassador to feeling bait-and-switched! :(

33 rides sounds like a decent selection until you break it down...4 30 minute rides, 1 45 and 1 60. And no "distance" ride that's more than 10K. Really bad business.

agree 1000% with the sentiment here.......new scenic rides are weak, no output tracking or leaderboard and no interest in a guide - we NEED the old scenic rides and functionality RESTORED! I'm happy to call customer support but think that will just be filed away some where - does it make sense to make feelings known to Peloton out on social media in a coordinated way to draw attention?

What a blunder to take away so many used and needed features plus the vast catalogue of rides. I am totally upset with Peloton for this change...it is NOT an upgrade but a take away. I need the leaderboard to assess y improvement over time...C'mon....get the functionality and more rides back!!!
