I only took my 5th ride on Peloton. It was the first 20 minute ride I took. Kept up for the most part on the cadence, but not on the resistance. It was a Beginner Class too. Boy am I out of shape. I have to consider I am 56 years old and have not exercised in years. I was a total gym rat through my thirties and was out running my twenty some year old friends. I know I will get to the point I can keep up with the instructors demands some day.

That's great Kathy! You're doing exactly what I would recommend - focus on cadence and don't worry adjust the resistance to what you can do. On that same note, if there's something the instructors are saying to do like standing up and you're not ready don't do it.

You'll see some improvement pretty quickly.

Hi new to Peloton as well. I’m 57 yrs old and a little over weight and not in that good of shape. I have taken 25 rides thus far and started with the mastering the basics program and on week 3 of the program. For the most part I can keep up with the resistance but having difficulty with keeping up with cadence especially out of saddle. Any suggestion? I am really enjoying the experience thus far and know that I will get better and stronger as time goes on.

Anything you do is better than sitting on the sofa! I used to beat myself up about being so unfit but realised I’m doing it and I’m trying so focus on the little wins and don’t be hard on yourself!
