Found a good article that goes over some of the things involved in calibration. Basically what you are adjusting is the amount of space between the magnets and the flywheel. This will affect the level of resistance when peddling. Just wanted to mention too that if you are riding without a HD monitor that its going to be hard to track/measure your progress accurately and make adjustments to your bike accordingly. In the past you could also look up other peoples rides to see how your results compare.
