Although the Peloton has seen record breaking sales over the past few years, many may not realise that this indoor cycling bike isn't a one stop shop to get you that ideal figure. Those tiny little weights that the bike come with, wont do much for the resistance training that many females rely on for building muscle mass. https://www.stack.com/a/a-peloton-bike-probably-wont-get-you-your-dream-body-heres-why
There is no one stop shop and everyone's body is going to see different results to a given exercise. I'm sure I don't need to tell you that one of the biggest factors in cutting weight is diet and portion control. But being able to exercise from home, regardless of the weather has its advantages for sure.
This marketing is no different from what you see with any exercise machine. No one buying one of these things is already in perfect shape. But more and more people are looking for alternatives to gym memberships.
This is one reason why I like the studio model that Peloton is coming out with.
Ultimately, the less barriers to riding one creates more buyers for Peloton.
I understand that it's easier and far more convenient to work out at home. But is the high buy in of something like the Peloton going to give you the same kind of results you would see from a personal trainer?
not for the masses that treat it like another passing fad
if well rounded fitness has been part of your lifestyle then the Peloton just adds convenience. for everyone else its a shiny object that will become a clothes rack in 5-6 weeks
also important to note as it related to having a trainer, little feature like the Peloton badges go a long way in motivating riders to keep going. as long as you have momentum some good has to come from it, and there's quite a few http://smartliving.tips/list-of-peloton-achievements/
This a great way to incentive owners and keep them invested in hitting new milestones. Really like the idea of them sending out rewards for certain accomplishments with memorabilia. Some of these look like they would be really hard to earn.
I agree just riding the bike and using 3 pound dumbbells will not result in a dream body. It is great for cardio and there are some activities you can do in the app like strength training, boot camp, etc. For someone who is looking for a great physique they will also need a program that includes regular strength training.
Sadly, the same statistics apply here that are used for other new equipment. During the bowflex days many people bought, few looked like the people in the ads in the end, haha.
I plan to use the strength classes and the core classes as an adjunct to the Peloton bike. That is when I get to the point I can use it with the correct cadence and resistance. I am extremely out of shape.
Just rode my Peloton for 20 minutes and felt like I was going to die, but proud of myself at the same time. I actually clipped out of the bike the way you are supposed to for the first time, instead of pulling my foot out of one shoe, too.
