I love my Peloton.

But the potential is too great to ignore and the current limitations frustrating.

When are we going to see the bold progression to take this bike / app to the next level.

  • Timed courses of varying lengths with recommended cadence and strength so we can challenge ourselves, or against others, to finish as quickly as possible?
  • Community rides for charity or events; it seems like there are opportunities for longer rides for charity, members can opt to donate $5 or so, and then the community rides for 2 hours for charity
  • Ride with the pros, Peloton members can follow Tour de France and what not on their bikes via the same course to test themselves again the best in the world
  • Racing friends expanded; right now the only way to compete is doing classes and comparing stats, it would be great if there were more ways to ride with friends.

Love to hear anyone else's thoughts on where we should be a year from now.

These are good ideas. I agree I would like to see more organized way to support charities and better gamification. They are attempting a large version of both with the Pelothon that's about to start (I'm on #theunstoppables by the way). Improved gamification is also key. We know the Golden State Warriors are competing against the NJ Nets on Peloton - would be cool if there was a collective team output feature.

I've tried racing my friends on a given ride by ignoring the instructions and just competing for output. The technology is there to do things like you're suggesting e.g. versions of a real bike race. I've also seen companies sponsor "swarm" rides where they donate X for every person who rides a specific on demand ride at a specific time. One that I participated in raised over $100K.

Thanks Stefon,

Great comments. I wasn't aware of the Pelethon as I joined at the end of March, but support the community giving attributes that Peloton is pushing. I know that there are a lot of distance community outdoor rides for charity (200km+) and I am hoping Peloton will eventually include individual and team participation at some point.

It will be interesting to see the shift from guided classes to community components that exist as a part of instructor based challenges or distinct from them.

Regards,

Eric

A few more things I'm hoping Peloton will do:
-Additional products like a rower, cheaper treadmill and something closer to strength training (I'd love if they bought Tonal). I'd like more options as I now plan to add more to our home gym but I don't want to pay for additional monthly memberships, have separate accounts, etc.
-More prescriptive classes based on personal goals like increasing speed on the bike, losing weight, building muscle, training for a marathon, etc. They have age, height, weight, heart rate, how hard we're working, how often we're working out, etc. so it seems like they could start automating personalized training plans based on individual goals.
-Rounding out the offering for other things like diet. When people start getting into Peloton people commonly ask about diet and that's a gap.

All in all, they're doing great and I love the bike and app but hope they keep innovating.

I would love if they integrated with Tonal and had an all around weekly personal training plan. I would say chunk it up into a total body 6 week plan with a fitness test day at the end. What would be really great is a live personal trainer consultant that does a monthly zoom meeting where they go over your progress and make suggestions. There are some powerful algorithms out there but honestly the personal touch is going to set it apart.

Plus I imagine there are a ton of personal fitness trainers more than willing to do some telework :/

I would also like to see it easily integrated with google fit or healthmate. I have a bunch of other health monitor data there and would love to see it altogether. Like when I go to the doctor and they say you should loose weight I can show them that I've been bustin my ass for several months ;)

Also, why can my ride choices not be bilingual. I'd love to see some of the content from Germany.

Agree with you, I've had my peloton for a few weeks now and was really disappointed with the scenic rides.
The bikes come with all the physical technology to make really good races, it already calculates your output and speed. There's also the option of expanding to different age / gender groups etc. (although I guess you can do this through filters).
What I would like to see is 'ghosts' of other riders that could also be filtered, seeing a physical rider on the screen is a lot more encouraging than chasing down numbers on a leader board.

Question to Peloton: Do you have a list of features you are working on with lead times?

Would be wonderful if Peloton offered simulation rides like Rouvy but with resistance suggestions as the terrian changes.

Perhaps buy them or similar technology and incorporate for spin bikes, not just trainers.
