Why do other riders already show 100+ output at the start of a ride?

The last few on-demand workouts I’ve taken I noticed that several riders are already showing output of 100 or more and we’ve only started the workout. How can that be?

Bikes are not properly calibrated or done on purpose to inflate stats.

If it’s a regular on-demand ride (not a ‘session’), everybody starts and finishes at different times. You start with zero output when your ride starts, but the other guy may have started 10 minutes ago (for example) and so has already accumulated an output of 100 or whatever. His ride will end 10 minutes before yours so you’ll have time to accumulate more output of your own and hopefully catch up or pass him.

if you do a live ride or session ride, everybody should start at the same time with zero.

Makes sense - thanks!
