It sounds like it is a voluntary recall. Article says they have stopped selling the Tread and Tread+ for now although I still see it on the web site. It also sounds like they have a "qualified remedy" so they must have figured out a way to address the issues?
Rumors are that they will have some sort of digital "lock" built into the Tread software, so that you can't activate the Tread unless you have the physical key and the "passcode"
Yes, Tread owners got an email saying that now there will be a 4 digit passcode required to start the Tread. They are also automatically turning off the Tread 45 seconds after a workout is done.
They mentioned on the earnings call that there will be a hardware fix as well for the Tread+, I'm guessing some kind of guard to prevent anything getting underneath the back of the treadmill.
Is there any update on the tread screen fix? I’m continuing to use mine. The screen is on tightly however it would be good almost a month on to receive an official update from Peloton.
Thanks Gina. I’m assuming they are still working on a fix for the tread screen & just check mine regularly (so far so good). Disappointing to read how poor customer service at Peloton is.
