Bike plus calibration issues

I just traded my perfectly working peloton bike in for the plus and it does not work!!! The calibration is completely off!! 0 resistance is like a 50 resistance on my old bike! If I recalibrate it, it will work correctly for maybe 5-10 minutes. Then it goes back to super heavy. Has anyone else had this issue?
i also asked customer service if I don’t want the bike Plus what happens to my credit from my old bike. They said there is nothing they can do!!! Ugh!! I have been on the phone for over 2 hours! I am so frustrated.

On P+, go to Settings, Home Installation, Start Recalibration. That should fix any issues you’re having. The old Peloton bikes are notoriously inaccurate, so don’t be surprised if your old PRs are wrong! The P+ allows you to fix this. Just go to Profile Settings, Personal Records, Manage.

I am on the same page as Laura. I have been on an old Peloton for almost 5 years. I don’t want to take a step back with my PRs. The Bike+ is sooooooo much harder, I am at about 50% of where I was on my old bike. I am returning it and getting a “new old” Peloton. The calibration instructions don’t result in any change. It acceptable

Well put!

Kinda the reason I established 2 new TAGs: #PeloPlusCalibrated & #PelotonPCalibrated. On a mixed Leader Board, it would be nice to know who's riding Original versus P+ bikes. Or maybe Peloton will add a filter, but somehow I doubt it...:(

Look forward to riding with you DSPelo!

Bummer! First I’ve heard of this.

If I were you (and it’s likely you did this already), I would re-boot the bike (basically turn the tablet off, unplug the bike, the plug the bike back in and power up the tablet). You may find that Peloton pushes a software/firmware update when you do this.

Next, I would run the recalibration routine again. Then ride the bike and see if your problem’s solved.

If that doesn’t work, I would try a “factory reset” of the bike. Here’s the info (and implications) from Peloton Support:

Factory Resetting Your Touchscreen
The Peloton Bike arrives from the factory in new and ready-to-use condition. We recommend factory resetting your Touchscreen for any of the following reasons:

If you sell your Bike
If your Touchscreen is repeatedly crashing during rides
If you cannot access the Settings menu
If you have completed all other offered troubleshooting steps and are still encountering an issue
When you factory reset your device, you will remove all user-entered information, including your membership, your wireless login, any changes made to your device settings, and the Peloton app itself. All your user information will be restored once you sign back into the Peloton app.

To factory reset your Touchscreen:

Power off your Touchscreen by holding the power button on top and selecting “Shutdown.”
Once the Touchscreen is powered off, hold the Volume Up button and the power button until the Peloton logo appears, at that point you can let go. This will start your Touchscreen in Recovery Mode.
Use the volume buttons to navigate to “wipe [all user] data/factory reset” and use the power button to select it.
Confirm by selecting “Yes -- delete all user data.”
Once the data has been wiped, select “reboot system now.”
Once the screen restarts, you will be asked to sign into your wireless network and the most recent version of the Peloton app will be automatically downloaded. Follow the normal login procedures to get back up and riding.

Good luck and let us know when you’re back up and rocking!

I am also regretting my decision to upgrade to the Bike +. My overall output has dropped by about 60 - 80 points and overall watts by about 50 points. I had my original bike for 3 1/2 years and it was properly calibrated. A person who has been riding consistently for over 3 years should not be finding 45 resistance challening. On a recent ride with Emma it was not possible to keep up with some of the cadence/resistance pairings called out, even at the lowest numbers. This is super frustrating. At least with the old bikes they could be manually calibrated.

@kimpossibl3 Don't despair! Chances are that if you've run the recalibration routine on your Bike+ (see above thread if you need help), your bike is accurately calibrated. I wouldn't get too upset about trying to match the instructors' cadence/resistance calls, just ride your ride. The issue here is that the instructors are still not riding (and teaching) to Bike+ (accurate) metrics during classes. Until that happens, it's entirely possible that it's their bike and not yours that's the issue!

That said, I would be remiss if I didn't add that many of the original bikes (and I'm not suggesting yours was one of them), are wildly mis-calibrated; visit the top of the Leaderboard in virtually any class for proof! There will be results that are beyond the realm of human possibility!

Peloton knows they have an issue with this and Bike+ is a step in the right direction. Keep the faith, and keep your Bike+!

Thanks for the pep-talk. I have a tech appointment this week so hopefully this will provide some clarity. We have 2 bikes -- one was easier than the other. The harder one was the one that was replaced by the Bike + and now it is just ridiculously hard. On the old bike my watts for a 30 minute ride would be 150 - 170 depending on the class and my effort. Now I cannot get past 118 watts for a 30 minute class and that is biking as hard as I can. And I realize this is not even a real world problem! Its just annoying to me because I started out at the end of 2017 completely out of shape and worked my way up to a good fitness level.

I had my bike+ for 2 months, during my original delivery I had to work and the tech's appeared to do a fine job as I was giving an interview. Over the course of a few days the resistance got really hard, so much that I was not able to use auto-follow or even come close with keeping up with the classes after finally getting used to the classes and finding the range of difficulty that I was tuned to.
I called support and after a discussion he sent me out a calibration kit and a video link that I did not pay too much attention to at the time.
Well the kit came, I took the smoked plastic shroud off the bike (slightly different that the video) and the calibration sequence just said 'Service Not Available, and the wedge for the magnet did not fit...
Doh! This is all for the original Peloton Bike, Not the Bike+... It seems that's something support should have tested before sending me a useless kit and a week or two out of cal...
Double-Doh! There is no need to go to the secret calibration menu out of the 'About' screen.. The Bike+ has an auto calibration...
I did the services/Home-Calibration and it certainly cleaned up the over-eager resistance. I just feel like a fool for going all that path and delay when I did not need to....
Oh Well... I guess I'd better shut up and get back on the bike now...
